Well the semi finals are upon us.  Our Waratahs have fought hard over the final rounds to make it this far.

The squad has been announced and is listed below. The absense of Benn Robinson and Wycliff Palu are going to hurt the Tahs, particularly against South African opponents.

HSBC Waratahs Super 14 Semi-Final Squad
Chris Alcock , Berrick Barnes, Al Baxter, Kurtley Beale, Luke Burgess, Tom Carter, Dave Dennis, Kane Douglas, Damien Fitzpatrick, Adam Freier, Daniel Halangahu, Josh Holmes, Rob Horne, Patrick McCutcheon, Drew Mitchell, Ben Mowen, Dean Mumm, Dan Palmer, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Rory Sidey, Chris Thomson, Jeremy Tilse, Lachie Turner, Phil Waugh.

Also against the Tahs is that three of their losses this year were at the hand of each of the other semi-final participants.  However it’s not all bad for the Waratahs, their attack in recent weeks has shown creativity, plus the team is still defensively quite strong.

Also going for the Tahs is that the Crusaders certainly won’t make it easy for the Bulls, who are not only playing their semi-final at a stadium 2 hours away from their usual ground, but decided to rest most of the team last week, which history has shown isn’t always a good thing. If the Waratahs knock off the Stormers and the Crusaders happen to beat the Bulls, everyone is back in Sydney for the final. Wishful thinking perhaps, but a Tahs/Crusaders final isn’t unheard of.

Can’t say I’m impressed that the semi is on at 3am, Sunday. But as proud Tahs fans, we should make an effort to watch it.  There’s an event up on facebook inviting people to come out and party. It’s located here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=122678451093979
